Depends on what you need. If you need everything (paint, brushes, roller, paint tray, painters tape, drop cloth) it would run you an easy $60-80 give or take in the Northeast US. Assuming you need a gallon of paint for a small/medium sized room. If you have supplies but no paint - you are looking at about $20. Before you buy supplies - ask around - most people have an extra paintbrush/tray kicking around that they may be willing to part with.
