Beginning oil painting supplies, cost, advice?

I'd like to give oil painting a try - just as a hobby - but don't know where to start. What would you recommend for a beginner (and inexpensive) oils kit, brush kit, canvas and what kind of cost can I expect to start up with those basics? Anything I've forgotten? Thank you in advance for your suggestions!Beginning oil painting supplies, cost, advice?
Get some canvas about 18'x24' most art stores will sell them for under $10

Get 3 brushes, filbert are the most versatile, get one for ditales that ends in fine point and one that is wide so you can cover large areas fast, and one midium one about half inches wide. This should run yo about $20, but remember buy the best brushes you can afford.

Get yourself a pallet were you can mix colors. A piece of board about 10' across.

The paints I would start with would be the three primary colors alizarin crimson, , cadium yellow light and tallo green also add white to mix your color with. about $20.

This is a basic list I would start with and grow my colection of paint and brushes from there.

good luck

Don't buy anything yet. Go to a course - get a free first lesson and decide whether you like it or not.
there are lots of arts and crafts outlet type stores (at least here in NY) where you can get beginner sets which include all the supplies that you have listed and are relatively inexpensive. Once you get ';good'; at it, then splurge on the more epxensive stuff, but for now, check out some retailers online.
