What kind of supplies do i need for an art painting?

im doing a project for my art class and im paiting two hands holding and making a heart.. and what do i need to paint it? im going to JoAnns and Micheals tmro. also im using water colors.. or oil paint. idk... whats the best paint? What kind of supplies do i need for an art painting?
I'd go with acrylic paints. Get that, brushes (i go to micheals and I know they have info to help you find what type of brushes to use for acrylic paints), a canvas or canvas board. With acrylics, it's very easy to go over what you have done. With watercolors you can't hide your mistakes, they are very layer oriented, which can be good, I'm just a bigger fan of acrylic. Oil paints are like acrylics that forever to dry, and you have to buy turpintine or turpiniod to wash the paint off the brushes (water doesn't work because they're oils) and those do not smell good.

Well hope that helped and best of luck with your painting. What kind of supplies do i need for an art painting?
Watercolor, you would use watercolor paper, not canvas. Oil paint or acrylic you would use a canvas. Watercolor is probably cheaper. Do you have any experience with either one?
